PUBLIC SPEAKER
2005
(Originally a 4 hour window)
wireless microphone and receiver, my laptop, Max/MSP patch, cardboard cut-out, speaker and stand, coffee and conversation

Alex Cargile, seen on the left screen, invites strangers passing by to join him in conversation over provided coffee. While they know they are being recorded they are unaware their voice alone is being projected out of our "speaker" two blocks away with a distortion to mask their identity.

LETTER CAMPAIGN

2006-2007
Displayed March 2007
Original footage accumulatively 3 hours
In correspondence with Carianne Noga

I like to think of this as our silent soap opera. We wrote to each other for 3 months and forbid ourselves from communicating any other way with the exception of a call on Sunday for technical ‘support’. We each recorded ourselves writing and reading and planned for our recordings to be played in tandem from start to finish in the gallery without the audience having access to the subjects of our letters. It was during the show we invited the gallery participants to take a stamped envelope addressed to each of us so that they could in return mail to us with a request for our letters. We recieved 7 responses.

WHEN WE WERE VIDS

2007
home videos, audio composed by Julian Bozeman (Originally a 14 min loop)

When we were vids is a collaborative video project between a group of friends in their twenties who were fortunate enough to find each other in recent years and have devised a plan to defy the laws of time and transport themselves into the past to play. My goal was to evoke the timelessness of our relationships by simply editing and consolidating our separate home movies to create one original video that acts as a flux capacitor and brings us back to a time we wish we had. Each child has an audio clip and the audio was arranged by the appearance of the children in the video.
